Ancestral knowledge, natural wisdom...

“From the ancestral Solar cults and the worship of the Forebears, it was basic common knowledge, that nature will provide us with everything we need, and furthermore, will also teach us the secrets of life, death, and even illumination.
Through celebrations, rites and traditions, the human mind developed an inner sense, an intuitive knowledge, that one can contact and communicate with the trees, the animals, the plants and herbs, and yes, even the seasons had its own unique power to it. Through that relationship, the Archetypes of the norse Gods were born as a symbolic representation of a deeper truth… a truth that reveals secrets about nature, its powers and its spirits. And back when people were hunters and gatherers, the most important thing was of course survival, the hunt and the differences between Daylight and the movements of the Sun, and the powers of the night, and whatever might lurk in-between the shadows of the night. It is from that time, that we experience fight-or-flight modus in traumatic situations even in modern times… a natural but old instinct.

The God Balder, or Belus, was so essential because they represented the light, and the movements of the Sun. Why does pretty much every solar deity and God of the Sun decent into the Underworld at some point in their lifetime?
Why do they all talk about the resurrection of this God? Just behold the movements of the Sun during December, in Alaska, Canada, Sweden, Norway or Iceland…. experience the blackness while being outdoors…
There was a power, “Kraft”, within everything and while we modern people have a hard time understanding this point of view… everything in nature was alive, there was no clear seperation between the material world and the spirit world. instead it was one and the same, but different sides of the same coin… the inner world, the world of thoughts, emotions, dreams, are equal to the world of the spirits, the Underworld, and the realms of the Gods, because everything that lives, breathes and is existent, has this same inner power and consciousness as well. It fills everything.
It is the fundament of this entire Creation, of nature’s will to grow, to develop, and to spread out, to rebuild, within us as humans, and outside in nature as well.
Based on this understanding, and based on this point of view, the essence of Paganism and Norse Spirituality was born and created. It was a way of sharing wisdom and knowledge with the people and ones own tribe, about the hard life with nature, and its powers, about Agriculture and having the responsibility to grow enough food, for ones family during the Winter… about observing everything in the Environment and learning from it.

You can find a God and a mythological background in old Germanic Folklore within every single plant, and every single tree. Because they all represent one special meaning and power that can be found in nature. There is a deeper meaning, and it has got to do with the actual power, and purpose of the plants, it has got to do with the seasons and the cycles of nature, and the importance of letting your mind, and consciousness connect with nature on a deeper, profound level.
The problem we have today is that we cannot see the Gods anymore for what they are, we make them into something we want them to be, without the ability to read the book of nature, and without the ability to understand the language of the Myth anymore.

We have forgotten the original language, on which the “the Gods” are based upon, and not many do remember the original Traditions and Celebrations. Not many to understand it today. And we have also forgotten, that everything about the Vikings, the Runes and norse Spirituality - is, and always was, about nature and living the hard life in the wilderness, and experiencing the secrets of nature once again, by establishing a unity once again, with your land, and the elements of this land, and everything that can be found on this land, and by learning from it…
There is a reason why the most ancestral ritual places in Scandinavia are mostly hidden, made out of stone structures in the wilderness, and in Germany as well. Because nature was a portal… a Gateway to different dimensions and realms, but everything, in the end, was one… a Unity.
The Runes, and the Myths, show us a world full of interaction, where everything is connected to each other, and the world needs balance in order to work and function properly. The Gods can show us, that we don't need a Jesus-Substitute at all, but if we learn from the Gods, the Gods will show us, that they are not somewhere in Valhalla, looking down on us, as real beings... they show us, that the realm of nature is wild, unknown, dark and profound, they show us, that nature, is far more than we can imagine, for they are representations, Archetypes, so that the human mind can grasp and understand something, that is far away from our imagination and understanding, - an Archetype is something that can be found within you and me, and within everything aswell. It is universal...

We have lost this state of mind completely to a large extent, and this is why we have a hard time grasping what they - the Gods and the Myths - represent... but be cautious; the Myths also teach us, that the human mind is only one mind amongst many others. It is not about us, or our Ego, it never has been - it is about the in-between, the you and me, and us and nature, that the Myths try to tell us. The bridge... the missing link in our minds, to finally read and contact nature once again - without any projection, and fantasy worlds, but the real powers that lurk there.
After all, norse Spirituality is not like the Bible, never has been. It is about you, daring to step into the dark and the unknown, and finding that missing link and re-integrate it right back into your life again...

Where to start?

Nature...
