The Níðhöggr or Nidhogg is a dragon who chews on one of the three roots of the Norse tree of life, Yggdrasil. The root covers the realm of ice, Niflheimr, which traps the Níðhöggr from entering the world.
Recently I was asked to create a Pendant of the Níðhöggr from a drawing the woman had made, as shown below. Though she did not want the Runes. You can check out her Tumblr account here, hedensktrollkjerring. She has lots of gorgeous pictures of Norway and Norse art, go check her out if you are on Tumblr.
So here was the beginning stage of the Níðhöggr, I had just finished sawing out the exact design in copper from the drawing.
Stage three shows the design of the Níðhöggr, which she had chosen from her own stunning cross stitchings (I wish I could do that!) shown below. Maybe she'll start selling them one day?
Along with the Níðhöggr are two custom rune ear cuffs I was working on as well. You get can your own by clicking here.
And lastly, to finish it off I give the Níðhöggr a black antiqued patina and attach it to a long leather cord.
If you would like your own custom pendant, don't hesitate to use the contact button at the bottom of your screen and let me know your ideas!
