This ring is a tribute to the Bavarian Krampus / Perchten masks worn during the darkest times of the year, the infamous Rauhnächte. It was during these sacred nights that smoke was burned and the spirits of Wotans Wild Hunt, Wotan's wilde Jagd, roamed the ice landscape of the European Alps. The Krampus is an old Archetype of alpine, animistic and pagan folklore of bavarian and austrian heritage. It stems from a belief so ancient and old, of Berchta, who is the equivalent to the norse Hel, of her dark and mystic Underworld, and the spirit realm that could be found here and now, within nature and within ourselves.
Below the Krampus mask are two little leaves and a Malachite marquise cabochon.
